Emily was born and raised in Bridgeport, WV and has been dancing for as long as she can remember. She began dancing at just three years old, and what started as a childhood passion quickly became a meaningful and defining part of her life.
Throughout her training, Emily studied a variety of styles, including Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, Modern, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap, and Acro. She was a member of her middle school danceline team and continued dancing on her high school danceline for a year before becoming a company member with API.
As a company member, Emily had the opportunity to take her dancing to new levels. She competed in conventions and competitions including Nuvo, 24 SEVEN Dance, Extreme Talent, West Virginia Dance Festival, performed with Project Dance in New York City, and had the privilege of taking classes from professional dancers and teachers. Throughout these competitions, she performed in solos, duets, and group pieces, many of which received awards and recognition for their performances. These experiences helped shape her as both a dancer and an educator and gave her a deeper appreciation for the dedication, discipline, and artistry that dance requires.
During her time as a company member, Emily also began stepping into the role of an assistant teacher. It was through this experience that she discovered how much she loved helping young dancers learn, grow, and gain confidence in themselves.
After taking a few years away from dance to focus on building a family of her own and raising her three daughters, Emily felt called back to the studio. She is excited to return to API as a dance teacher and begin this new chapter by sharing the passion for dance that has been a part of her life since she was a little girl.
Emily’s goal as a teacher is to create an encouraging and positive environment where dancers can develop strong technique, confidence, discipline, creativity, and a genuine love for dance. She hopes to not only help her students grow as dancers, but also to teach them valuable life lessons they can carry with them far beyond the studio.
After spending so many years learning, performing, competing, and growing through dance, Emily is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to now pour that same passion into the next generation of dancers and help them create beautiful memories of their own in the studio.
