ACTING
Working with monologues and scenes students will build skills involved in the craft of acting. As we work on focus, character development, listening, sense of space, stage presence, memorization techniques, managing jitters, physicality, script analysis, expressing emotions, articulation, diction, taking direction and more, these young actors will begin to create their own audition portfolios. At the end of the program, they will demonstrate their skills in a performance of select monologues and scenes.
ACTING FOR DANCERS
Dancing is storytelling. So how do you tell the story of the music you’re dancing to? Sometimes you have to go beyond the choreography and be an actor too. In this class we’ll do lots of fun exercises and lessons to help you improve your art by being a better actor.
MUSICAL THEATER
If you like Musical Theater, this is the class for you. We’ll cover the whole range of skills from auditions, to warm-ups, to movement, to characterization. We’ll also learn about costumes, make up, and even Broadway history. We’ll finished it all off by performing a piece from a Musical in the Spring production.
IMPROV
Improv is an acting exercise where you make up characters on the spot without any preparation. Does that sound hard? Well, guess what. Anyone can do it. Including you! In this class we learn about improv and all its benefits. It can help your art and your life in so many ways.
API API
API API, short for Actors Producing Imagination at Altered Productions Institute, is a vibrant youth theater group dedicated to nurturing young minds through the magic of performance. At API API, creativity knows no bounds as students step into a world where imagination takes center stage. Through dynamic plays, theatre games, scenes, and workshops, troupe members explore the art of storytelling, build confidence, and form lifelong friendships. Whether they're acting, singing, or dancing, every student is encouraged to shine in an environment that celebrates their unique talents and fuels their passion for the performing arts. For our young thespians, the stage isn't just a place—it's a gateway to endless possibilities. Get ready for a wild ride through the world of make-believe. Our troupe will bring stories to life with boundless energy and creativity. From classic tales to out-of-this-world adventures, our shows are a feast for the senses.
